Étienne oversees Electrum’s trading and risk-management strategies on the financial markets.

In this role, he is responsible for establishing a discretionary macro trading strategy within the firm. With over 12 years of experience in Financial & Capital Markets, Étienne has led successful teams at Barclays Investment Bank in the city of London and at Electrum in Geneva. Structuring investments in various assets classes spanning from Credit to FX and Precious Metals, Etienne developed extensive financial engineering creativity in both linear products and derivatives. Having enhanced Electrum’s proprietary market analytical tools, Etienne notes that “Exacerbated financial-market volatility often poses challenges to risk managers. Our constant discipline and agility are crucial in monetizing these opportunities. Strengthening relationships with key trading partners is also part of our success”.

Parallel to running the trading activities, Etienne leads the risk management strategies for Electrum’s internal clients exposed to commodity and currencies price fluctuations. Precise calibration of hedging strategies by Etienne and his team has helped our partners in maximizing value while reducing uncertainty.

His rigorous risk management and methodical trading approaches have been forged by both professional and academical experiences. Following quantitative undergraduate studies in mathematics and physics in Paris, Etienne graduated from a Master of Science in Financial Markets from EDHEC Business School. Passionate about imparting knowledge, Étienne has been delivering distinguished lectures at ESSEC and EDHEC business schools, on corporate treasury risk-management and financing topics since 2020.

Swapping trading screens for the cockpit: « There are many similarities between flying and trading. It requires the same discipline, control, process, and self-awareness», says Etienne, who has held a private pilot license for over 10 years.
